I back then that time was in slow motion. Like I am fully conscious of every second. I was then conscious of what it had been like to be the wave. What it had been like to be one of the other surfers within the ocean water. And what it was like to be the spectators viewing along the shore. Totally in ‘the zone’.

I remember flying down the wave almost like I was on a vision quest to do a perfect bottom maneuver. Then going up the wave to do a top turn (… which I’d by no means even thought of doing prior to this day). But this really is what the force was guiding me to complete.

Another bottom turn which by natural means went into a cut-back as I was then way in front of the breaking wave. By aligning with the force I was then surfing as I had never ever surfed before. By the point I had reached the white ocean water I felt I had ridden probably the most ideal wave of my life up until then. I remember laying on my board within the white ocean water and my head was saying ‘Wow! That’s amazing. Imagine what the next wave will probably be like!’

Nevertheless the pull was to paddle back to shore. So in I went.

As I was walking up the foreshore one of the guys watching from the shore came up to me and asked if I had been the guy surfing the yellow board. I told him that this is my board and sure, it’s yellow.

He asked exactly where I had learnt to surf. I told him I’d only been surfing for 3-4 months.

‘Wow’ came the reply. ‘You could go professional if you keep this up.’

I then I remembered taking a look at him in the eyes and remember the words that arrived from my mouth had been ‘Thanks, but there’s no requirement.’ We both laughed.

The message in this story is the fact that remarkable things happen when you’re in the zone and aligned with the force. Experiences like this occur nearly at will once we get into the zone. Once we flip off the continuous chatter inside our head and just allow ourselves to go along with the guiding force. For if I had listened to my head that day I probably would have sat on the outside of the surfing pack and most likely not even gotten a wave. Rather than allowing the guiding power to provide me one of the best waves of my life up until then.

And from what I can see, it’s the head that usually will get in the way of our organic alignment and also the power that’s continuously guiding us. From what I see this really is usually what occurs within modern civilization. There’s generally a stark disconnect between the lives people are having and the authentic life they had been born to live. And also the continuous pattern that is getting in the way is what happens inside people’s heads. Within the continuous chatter we’re telling ourselves. For it typically throws out our alignment with the guiding force.
